'Pansies for thoughts'

It's almost april, and the sun is shining bright. Daffodils, hyacinths and pansies are blooming in my small garden. I love pansies. They are such colorful yet delicate flowers. They remind me of my dear grandfather who grew the most beautiful pansies. I came across this quote of Shakespeare, and it fits my sentiment perfectly.

How did I make this spread in my art journal?
Well  I painted dark green card stock with yellow, yellow ocre,
prussian blue and white, and mixed those colors.  Then I  used a printed picture of a basket of pansies (thank you Far Far Hill) and glued that on the pages. Next I painted some color over the pansies and the basket with matching colors, so the flowers would pop up a bit. Oh, and I stamped the background when it was dry with a text stamp of Viva decor and Stampology pearl clear stamp ink pad. I made a label, painted it en colored it and the quote with gel pens. For the first sentence of the quote I used an alpha stencil and painted the lettering yellow and added contour with an aqua marker.

'Make a wish come true'

Don't we all want our wishes to come true?  That's why I made this art journal page.

I made a collage of several papers in my stash and used a layer of gesso on top of that. Then I used a stencil for a layer of pearl gel medium to get the pearl lace effect.  I also added a lace ribbon and a picture of lilacs, gave that picture a layer of lilac glimmer mist and added the words.

Here's a detail. I made the rose out of white clay and painted it with lilac and gold acryl paint.

Birthday cards with glossy glitter

Two of my nieces celebrate a birthday next week. They are twins and that 's why I made two birthday cards in the same colors. The background is different of course :).
I used glossy glitter card stock of  'The Whimsy Stack'  by DCWV inc. and card stock in orange, green and blue. I stamped with archival ink and the large Birthday stamp by Viva Decor My Paper World  on the orange card stock. Next I used a lace stencil and applied a layer of pearl acrylic medium.
The tags are made of Whimsy paper.  I stamped them with two stamps by Viva Decor.

Cards and best wishes for a festive birthday!

'Treasure of precious moments'

Second message today!  Yesterday I completed this art journal page, but it took overnight to dry completely. So here is a picture.

I made a collage of several patterned papers and gave the pages a few coats of paint.  I was n't happy with the result, so I decided to use gel medium on a embossing mold. That looked a lot better, especially with a bit of gold color paint.  I aged the gold color a bit with Ranger archival ink (sepia) and Ranger distress ink forest moss.  The handmade cameo (clay) was the finishing touch.

The colors of this spread made me write down the words. Precious moments in life should be cherished like a treasure, I think. My art journal is becoming more and more a treasure to me...

Triptych 'Love', Create' and 'Inspire'

'Love', 'Create' and 'Inspire'. These are the words I used for a
canvas triptych I've created for my 'office' or 'work space'.

I chose some coördinating patterned papers (Prima Marketing papers life Time 6"x 6" paper pad); made collages; sprayed glimmer mist in gold color and added one layer of gesso on a stencil (doily).
Easy to do, but maximum effect.

Now it's just a matter of finding a good spot on my office wall...

'Winter is finally over'

A quite simple journal page. I made a collage of several papers in my stash and painted it with gesso; added also extra color with ArchivalVersa Magic multi-surface chalk ink pads Night Sky and Tea leaves. Next I added the words. I used cheap gel pens (turquoise and yellow-brown) for that and Aqua marker lamp black.

Two weeks ago, I discovered a few snowdrops in my garden. Definitely a sign that winter is almost over and spring is on its way.  Can't wait!

'Observe and reflect'

Every now and then I need a moment to 'observe and reflect'. Doing so I hope to become more wise and to be able to cope with my 'issues' and to keep my focus on things that really matter to me.  I created this journal page to remind me of that
